Damhead run daily miles for cancer

Inspired by the ‘Daily Mile’ scheme in Scotland, where children run a mile every day during school, P4 teacher Miss McWilliams decided to introduce the run to her class at Damhead Primary in October 2015.

The children run four laps round the school grounds weather permitting, the equivalent of one mile. P4 thoroughly enjoy the run and the most obvious benefits are fitness and energy levels have improved as well as greater concentration in class.

South Oxhey school chosen as one of three in Hertfordshire to complete Daily Mile

A school in South Oxhey is just one of three in Hertfordshire to be chosen to do a Daily Mile to combat the child obesity epidemic,

Teachers at Woodhall School, Woodhall Lane, will do the Daily Mile to increase exercise amongst their pupils.

The children walked for 15 minutes this week, during the launch event and they will increase the distances until they are walking a mile.

Bryn Pupils Rise To The Challenge Of ‘The Daily Mile’

Pupils at Bryn Primary school are taking part in ‘The Daily Mile’, where every child walks or runs a mile each day.

The mile can be done at any time during the school day and staff and pupils worked together to calculate several one mile routes around the school grounds, allowing the school to run even in poor weather conditions.

Disabled Leatherhead children inspire with their ‘Daily Mile’

Children at a Leatherhead school for children with disabilities have inspired a head teacher who is campaigning to get children to be more active.

Students at Woodlands School are already taking part in The Daily Mile campaign, founded by award-winning teacher Elaine Wyllie, which encourages children to run for 15 minutes every day, averaging a mile distance.

She visited the school on May 25 to meet staff and members of CSH Surrey’s nursing and therapy teams.
