Dr Emma Frew and researchers at the University of Birmingham (Schools of Public Health and Health Economics, in association with Services for Education) evaluated the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of The Daily Mile programme in 40 primary schools across Birmingham, funded by Birmingham City Council.

They concluded The Daily Mile may help in addressing childhood obesity; have an impact on body mass index (BMI), especially for girls; and is a cost-effective intervention, particularly for girls.
