North Bute pupils walk a mile a day

Pupils and staff at North Bute Primary School in Port Bannatyne are embracing the New Year resolution for health and fitness by going for a mile-long walk in the village every day.

Their ‘Walk a Mile a Day’ effort follows in the footsteps (sorry) of those at St Ninian’s Primary in Stirling, who pioneered the ‘daily mile’ idea in 2012, finding that it helped pupils’ concentration as well as their health and wellbeing – and who soon found schools across the country taking note.
