The Daily Mile at Home
We would like to introduce all families across the UK to The #DailyMileAtHome. It’s an easy and fun way to keep fit and maintain good health and wellbeing for you and your children.Read on below
Instructions from the UK government are very clear – they are allowing us to take exercise outdoors, as long as we can keep a safe distance from others. Further government guidance on this can be found below. We all need to try to be physically active and The Daily Mile at Home can help almost everyone to do this. We believe that it will be useful for children, parents and carers in helping them to look after their physical and mental health.
We already have Daily Mile guidance for schools, and now we’ve adapted it so you can use it at home and enjoy the same benefits. These come from 15 minutes or more of walking, running or jogging in the fresh air – doing it at whatever pace suits you best and wearing what you’ll feel most comfortable in. We’d love to see you doing The Daily Mile, so be sure to post on social media using #DailyMileAtHome.
Family Fun Challenges
To keep your family active and motivated, we’re working with our fantastic partners at London Marathon Events to create weekly challenges for The #DailyMileAtHome! Every week there’ll be 3 new challenges for you. To find out about this week’s challenges, see below.
Wellbeing for Families
Fun Projects at Home
Trying to teach your children at home during lockdown is not the easiest thing to do – it can be quite a frazzling experience for parents. We’d like to lift some of the strain off you and suggest that the children do the work and you listen!
Dart’s Family Mission
We’d like to introduce you to Dart – the mascot for our sister charity GO Run For Fun and a champion for children’s health – who has created some challenges for families at home. He’s inviting you to complete a mission together… and have fun while you do it! For more information and to view the activities, please visit their website.
IMPORTANT – always follow the Government’s Guidance to keep your family safe and help protect others. If anyone in your household is expressing symptoms, please don’t venture outside. Please ensure when you do The Daily Mile at Home, you are following the latest guidance issued by the government.
