In 2012, The Daily Mile was founded by Elaine Wyllie MBE at St Ninians Primary School in Stirling, Scotland. Elaine, Headteacher at the time, recognised the children were not fit as most were exhausted by the warm up in PE. Working with the children, she developed The Daily Mile and its 10 core principles.
In 2017, the Scottish Government committed to becoming the world’s first Daily Mile Nation. Since that commitment the initiative has expanded in Scotland with almost 1,000 places across Scotland, including schools, nurseries, further education institutions and workplaces participating. Now, The Daily Mile is ready to move to the next level in order to truly become the world’s first Daily Mile Nation. This role will be instrumental in helping the Scottish Government achieve this ambition by supporting the promotion and expansion of The Daily Mile ‘Children Fit For Life’ and ‘Fit For Life’ brands across all sectors of Scottish life.
