Eliud Kipchoge: A Daily Mile Ambassador

We’re delighted to announce our new #DailyMileAmbassador … Eliud Kipchoge!

Eliud is the current world record holder for the Marathon – an incredible time of 2:01:39, for an event that covers 42.2km. He won the London Marathon, on 28th April 2019, for the 4th time and is also an Olympic Medallist, who won Gold in 2016.

Eliud is also a father of three children and one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet!

Eliud often says “a running world is a happy world” and inspiring children to get outside and get running is the single most important thing to him.

Last week, Eliud joined The Daily Mile Foundation team and visited John Henry Newman Academy, Oxford, to meet the children and staff. The Academy has been signed up to The Daily Mile initiative since April 2018 and had the opportunity to do their Daily Mile with Eliud.

It was a wonderful day with the children, who joined in with a ‘Q&A session’ with Eliud, hosted by John Mayock (ex-Olympian and British Record holder). The children were absolutely in awe of their idol and asked fantastic questions about footwear, nutrition, sleep and his love of running.

On behalf of the Foundation, we’d like to wish Eliud luck on his next challenge – breaking the two hour marathon barrier with the INEOS 1:59 Challenge.
